In what has been a whirlwind 24 hours for Liverpool fans, it would appear as though the Reds have a clear run at AS Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni this summer. A report from Foot Mercato initially broke the story that Liverpool want “want to beat Real Madrid at the post for Aurélien Tchouameni!”. They claim that “Jurgen Klopp loves” the 22-year-old and that Los Blancos would “have a hard time convincing both AS Monaco and the player financially speaking.”
However, the journalist also reports that Liverpool are interested in Aurelien Tchouameni as well as Jude Bellingham although the Englishman is unlikely to be available this summer due to Erling Haaland leaving the club. A claim from Spain now suggests that Liverpool are in the clear as far as the race to sign Tchouameni is concerned.
AS journalist, Sergio Santos, reports: Tchouameni likes Madrid, but right now he is NOT a priority. He will only arrive if it is at a reasonable price (something that is not given now). In follow-up updates, Santos claims Madrid are not planning on investing into their midfield ranks.
Meanwhile Carlo Ancelotti believes Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Casemiro are still vital to the club’s future and that Federico Valverde, Dani Ceballos and Eduardo Camavinga are more than enough as backup. For Liverpool, this is sensational news as it means they essentially remain uncontested should they pursue Tchouameni seriously. It will cost around €50million (£42m) to prise him away from AS Monaco which is not far away from the fee Liverpool paid to sign Fabinho from the Ligue 1 side.
